«The Case Against Education» Presented by Bryan Caplan:
Bryan Caplan was born on the 8th of 1971. Caplan is a professor of economics at George Mason University, Senior Scholar at the Mercatus Center, adjunct scholar at Cato Institut and actively cooperates with EconLog and Freakonomics. Caplan has published for America’s most prestigious journals such as The New York Times, Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal. Caplan has appeared on ABC, Fox News, MSNBC, among others.
In his latest book «The case against Education: Why the Education System Is a Waste of Time and Money,» Bryan Caplan argues that the U.S. higher education system is unfair and harms society and students. Today’s education, says Caplan, does not prepare students for the world of work, despite its great economic cost. The author proposes, as a solution, educational austerity, the promotion of vocational education and leaving behind the romantic vision of education, opening the way to common sense.
In addition to his brilliant academic career, he has published the following books:
- The Myth of the Rational Voter: Why democracies choose bad policies (2007). (Named best political book of the year by the New York Times).
- Selfish Reasons to Have More Kids (2011).
